When visiting Tucson, don’t get bogged down in sweltering traffic. Break out of the city and enjoy cooler weather. Take a couple of hours to explore unique scenery and discover hidden gems, all within a couple of hours of the city.

1. Cactus Forest Drive

East of the city, Cactus Forest Drive is an 8-mile paved driving trail, running through the Rincon Mountain District of Saguaro National Park. Behold amazing desert views, come across desert wildlife, and awe at Arizona’s treasure; the saguaro cactus.

2. Saguaro Lake

Just because you’re in southern Arizona, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy swimming or boating. Check out Saguaro Lake, located near Mesa, AZ, about halfway to Phoenix. Saguaro Lake offers 22 miles of shoreline, nestled between beautiful mountain views covered in saguaro cacti, and perfect for your favorite water sport!

3. Mt. Lemmon Scenic Byway

If you really want to transport yourself completely out of the desert, take a drive on the Mt. Lemmon Scenic Byway. This paved road winds through the Santa Catalina Range and leads directly to the upper areas of Mt. Lemmon. As you climb, enjoy an almost 20-25 degree drop in temperature and visit Summerhaven for shops, restaurants, and a functioning ski lift.

When you’re in southern Arizona, do as the locals do. Escape to numerous scenic areas surrounding the city and discover a new world! Visit Jim Click Hyundai Auto Mall to pick up your new Hyundai and get to the trails!
